Visual perception is the ability to interpret the surrounding environment through photopic vision (daytime vision), color vision, scotopic vision (night vision), and mesopic vision (twilight vision), using light in the visible spectrum reflected by objects in the environment.

What is visual perception? Visual perception refers to the brain's ability to make sense of what the eyes see. This is not the same as visual acuity which refers to how clearly a person sees (for example “20/20 vision”). A person can have 20/20 vision and still have problems with visual perceptual processing.

Light is in fact a physical source of energy as its existence is felt and our brain responds it. There are six major steps involved in the process of visual perception: reception, transduction, transmission, selection, organisation and interpretation.
